Project Shakti

Women and children from marginalised communities in Ahmedabad, India, gain valuable skills at the Manav Sadhna Centre, where they learn to create handcrafted products using upcycled materials. By providing a platform to sell their creations, we help them earn a stable income, break free from poverty, and preserve their artistic heritage, all while promoting sustainability.

Project Shakti operates by purchasing handmade products from women artisans and children at a fair price. These products are then sold at an international market price with a markup to ensure sustainability. The remaining surplus is reinvested into the community through initiatives like community loan pots, enabling artisans to expand their skills and gain financial independence.

Project Shakti empowers marginalised women and children through skills training and sustainable income opportunities. By creating upcycled products, artisans generate steady earnings. Our impact extends beyond finances. For instance, during the Christmas season, we raised over £500, tripling their income. And surplus profits supported education, nutritious meals, sports trips, and skill development, ensuring holistic growth and stability.
